Duo Braziliana researches and performs Brazilian and Latin American art song. Through networking and education, the Duo recognizes artists who are devoted to advancing Latin American cultures.

American mezzo-soprano Melanie Ohm and Brazilian pianist Rúbia Santos met during their graduate studies at Arizona State University in 1999. Since then, both artists have passionately shared their great interest for Latin American culture, in particular its wealth of music and literature. In 2002, Ohm and Santos began a collaborative work dedicated to performing and recording works by Brazilian composers, who are deeply rooted in the folk, urban, and cultural life of Brazil. They are also focused on research and publication. In early 2012, Santos’ editions entitled Eight Songs for Voice and Piano by Villani-Cortes and Eight Piano Works by Villani-Cortes will be available through Ponteo Publishing. Presently, Ohm is collaborating with Martha Herr of São Paulo on a book, Brazilian Portuguese Lyric Diction. The duo has traveled often to Brazil, performing in the US and abroad.
